I
am so excited to be sharing our engagement session/Save the Date pictures with
y’all! Once all my guests have received their Save the Dates, I’ll share the exact
one we picked! I am extremely happy with the way they turned out! I tried to
pick my favorites pictures for y'all which was so hard because I love them all.
I also wanted to share a little bit about our outfit choices to help any of my
engaged girls out there that have engagement shoots coming up.
I
would suggest doing a more formal look and a casual look! We did both and I am
so happy we did because you get two different styles of pictures. For the more
formal outfit, I personally love the look of a long flowy dress! I think it
adds that romantic look you are looking for in an engagement session. I picked this light pink LuLu dress. I was
going back and forth between nudes and pink but fell in love with this dress. I
think the color was perfect for our background. As for colors choices, I’ve
seen a little bit of everything from bright red, navy blue to neutral tones. I would
suggest going with whatever color looks best on you! For Patrick’s outfit or
your man’s outfit – a suit looks so classy especially beside a long dress. I
would say try to stay in the neutral colors for him, so it compliments your outfit
well.
Casual
outfits are easier because its typically something you already have in your closet.
Since our pictures were taken in the fall, I picked a white sweater (again going
with the neutral tones) and Patrick wore a dressier t-shirt. He picked garnet
because it paired well with my outfit and the season! Then we both just wore
jeans and boots. Super simple and they turned out great! My exact boots are linked here and are on sale for only $22. Funny story about Patrick's shirt. he bought it the day before our pictures and didn't realize it had a HOLE right on the shoulder. If you look closely, you can see it, haha! All we could was laugh about it because that was the only shirt he brought.
If you have an engagement session coming up, I hope the tips below will help you pick you are your boo thangs outfit!
- Choose your
outfits ahead of time so you aren’t scrambling to find pieces the day of.
- Make sure your
outfits work for the season and location of photos.
- Don’t go crazy on
accessories or wear very bright color outfits– you want you and your fiancé
to be the main focal point. Because that’s really what these pictures are
all about!
- Be mindful of the color
schemes between you and him
- Let your location
help you pick your outfit
- Bring props that
are meaningful to you. Or even your pet.
- If you can splurge
– get your hair and makeup done. I decided just to get my hair done at Dry
Bar for $40 and did my makeup myself!
- Don’t wear
clothing with logos.
- Have fun and enjoy the moment because you will have these photos to cherish forever.
